In the last 15 years, princess cut diamond engagement rings have gained a lot in popularity. The cut and brilliance of this fancy shape diamond has been enhanced for maximum light return. Together with it’s diagonal, corner to corner, dimensions it appears larger than most diamonds of the same carat weight.
When the stone first started to gain popularity, I thought for certain that it would be one of these trendy diamond shapes that comes and goes. There was a time when marquis diamond engagement rings were all the hype, and then the pear shaped engagement rings after that. Even though the pear and the marquise diamond shapes are still around today, the big hyped up boom of sales on them is gone. It was during that same boom, that I could not get in marquise cuts, or pear cuts in stock faster than I could sell them. So I did what any business would do, I stocked up. Then before you knew it, I had this entire inventory of these pear and marquise cut diamonds in my arsenal. Then just like that, sales on them came to a grinding halt. That is exactly what I thought was going to happen to the princess cut diamonds as well.
I’ve been semi-retired for 2 years now. My recent research on princess cut diamond engagement rings suggests that the demand is still very high. Designers are utilizing them in channel settings on various rings, as well as invisible settings where the diamonds are seemingly just pressed up against one another. Princess cut diamonds are also being used as the center stone on a large scale. I am still a big fan of this cut.
The very first very round of styles that I am going to build a page for is the solitaire. There are many different styles of solitaire to choose from. Whether you want a straight cut traditional setting, or a more offset twisted ring shank it is all available. Princess cut engagement rings, as a solitaire style, leave a stunning visual impression.
The second set of styles I will be examining and reviewing is all of the rings that fall into the 3 stone category. Whether the center diamond is larger than the two shoulder stones, or if the 3 stones are of equal size, these trinity rings are popular as anniversary rings as well as engagement rings. In whichever case they are a nice look.
Thirdly I will check out the vintage and or antique styled reproductions of princess cut diamond engagement rings. You can view all of that and more of my rants here.
