The ingenious styling behind all of Scott Kay engagement rings is undeniable. Today I am examining this 3 stone ring from the designers crown collection. Actually it is a five stone model since there are 2 flush bezel set diamonds in the crown or base of the prongs of this ring.

The center round brilliant cut diamond in the ring I saw today at an Ottawa based jewelry store in the Rideau Center was a 0.75 carat stone. At only 0.25 carats per shoulder for a total diamond weight 1.25ctw when adding up the 3 main diamonds.

The center diamond is set in nice solid platinum prongs which have solid walls on the left and right undersides of the center diamond. These walls were created to contain the edge of the 2 side stones, if you look closely you will see that the inner side of the 2 shoulder diamonds are actually set right up against those walls. The outside edge of the side stones are being locked in with 2 prongs only for this really nice look.

One other aspect of Scott Kay engagement rings crown collection is the hidden diamonds that can be found in both outer edges of the ring. They are subtly tucked under the center diamond right where all of the prongs meet near the bridge of the ring. A nice touch indeed! That will bring us to the platinum ring shank which makes the rest of the setting up for this ring.

From all of the advertising that I’ve seen in bridal magazines for Scott Kay engagement rings, this is still probably one of nicer past present and future style of rings that I’ve seen so far. The ring shank appears to just be a plain domed polished platinum setting. Now that I have seen the actual ring, the shank is actually a knife edge shank like that of the popular 6 prong Tiffany setting.
